It has been reported that the large brass bell from the Costa Concordia, the cruise ship that is laying on its side half submerged just off of the cost of Italy, on a reef known as Seagull Point has been stolen.
This large bell, which is reported to weigh 10kg, and has a depth of 8m, was secured with heavy duty bolts. Authorities stated there had to be more than one person to steal this bell. The authorities also kept this very quiet for a few weeks. News of the stolen bell leaked out, resulting in the press reporting about it.
This particular bell is rung for the crewmembers to set their watches and regulate their duty times throughout the day.
At this point one thing is for sure: it’s hard to tell who stole the bell!
Our office is currently assisting passengers and crewmembers who were harmed as a result of the Costa Concordia disaster.
